Amos Nachoum: award-winning Wildlife Photographer, and Founder and Expedition Leader of Big Animals Global Expeditions

Welcome!

I am Amos Nachoum. I am a wildlife photographer and adventurer.

I have dedicated my life to capturing extraordinary images of giant, often fearsome, aquatic and land animals with the goal of inspiring others to see past their fears and understand the animals, to respect and appreciate their true beauty and see their place in the natural world.

I am a two-time winner of the prestigious BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. My images have appeared in prominent publications including National Geographic Magazine, Time, Life, The New York Times, Condé Nast Traveler, and many others.

In 2000, I founded Big Animals Global Expeditions, a venture that enables adventurous spirits to join me in exploring and photographing some of the world’s most remarkable marine species. These expeditions are specifically designed to offer intimate and safe encounters with creatures like the great white shark, orca, leopard seal, and the elusive polar bear.

As an expedition guide, I am known for meticulous planning and vast experience navigating challenging environments. I look to instill confidence in all my guests and team members, always prioritizing safety and respect for the natural world.

I like to think my deep understanding of marine life and their habitats, coupled with my ability to anticipate and adapt to changing conditions, makes me a valuable companion and guide.
